Looking after someone with a disability or illness can make it difficult for both of you to get out of the house. This could be due to mobility or transport problems.

Motability  a charity-run scheme that gives disabled people and their carers and families access to to a car so that they can become mobile again  is here to help.

The information covers the Motability schemes that may be of interest to carers, who qualifies for them and how they work. There is also information on how the cars provided by the scheme are paid for and the additional benefits.

Read more about the Blue Badge parking scheme, which provides greater access to parking for eligible people.

People over 60 and some disabled people may also be entitled to concessions on public transport.
