Oxford traffic filters: what unpaid carers need to know about permit changes

If you’re an unpaid carer with an existing temporary permit for Oxford’s congestion charge scheme, you don’t need to apply for a new permit.

From 14 September 2026, the temporary congestion charge will be replaced by Oxford’s traffic filter trial. Oxfordshire County Council has confirmed that existing temporary permits for unpaid carers will be automatically transferred to the traffic filter permit scheme.

You will receive an email and/or letter from Oxfordshire County Council confirming this change.
