About us

Carers Oxfordshire is a partnership between the charities Action for Carers (Oxfordshire) and Rethink Mental Illness. We are commissioned by Oxfordshire Council and work with the support of Oxfordshire Health & Social Care. For over ten years, carers have been reaching out to us for support on their caring journey. We want all carers to know they don’t have to care alone. If someone relies on them, they can rely on us. Find out more about us.

Who we help

We support adult and parent unpaid carers aged 18 and over. The person they care for can be any age, and they don’t need to live with them. They may need support due to having a disability, mental or physical illness, an addiction, or other additional needs.

How we help

We provide vital information and support that makes the caring journey easier.

We have a dedicated phone line so carers can speak to a carer supporter straight away. It’s run by our expert team, many of whom currently are or have been carers, know and understand all the stresses and struggles of a caring role and how at the same time, it is incredibly fulfilling and life-affirming.

We help carers find practical ways to look after their own well-being. The support we provide is different for each person because we understand that no two caring situations are the same. Ways in which we provide support include carer groups, courses, short breaks away and planning for emergencies. Visit our support page to find out more.

With the rising cost of living, it’s more important than ever for carers to find out about the financial help available. Our benefits page contains information and a handy leaflet to download.

We attend and run a range of in-person and online events throughout the year. These include training courses, information days, carers groups and Carers Voices. Visit our events page to find out what’s on.
