Opportunities for learning

We offer a variety of free courses and workshops for unpaid carers through Abingdon & Witney College.

Carers who are looking to find a hobby, retrain and upskill, or simply follow a passion, can apply for a free course.

Courses for Carers

Courses for Carers are award-winning free workshops and courses created for carers in partnership with Abingdon & Witney College, designed to help you improve your well-being and gain confidence in caring

Below are the courses available for 2025. All of the courses are free, and many are flexible and online, allowing you to participate from the comfort of your home, and fit your studies around your caring responsibilities.

Course funding

In addition to the free courses for carers we also provide funding for unpaid carers to take up a new hobby, learn something new or update your skills.  There are hundreds of part-time courses to chose from, take a look at the Abingdon & Witney college website.

To enquire about funding, chose your course option from the link above, then contact us with your name, the name of the chosen course and the course number, so that we can get back to you and organise your funding.

All courses and funding are available to unpaid carers in Oxfordshire aged 19 and over. We can offer up to £100 per year towards any part-time or evening courses listed on the Abingdon & Witney College website. This can be applied to a single course or split across multiple courses, up to the annual £100 limit.

In order to allow us enough time to process funding applications we require at least 10 working days notice before your chosen course starts.

You will need a Carers Oxfordshire Carer’s ID card to sign up to these courses.
