Benefits

Oxfordshire Residents Support Scheme

Oxfordshire County Council has launched a new Oxfordshire Residents Support Scheme to support residents who are either in, or at risk of being in crisis, are facing financial hardship, and have no other source of financial support available to them.  It is intended to meet one-off crisis or emergency need, and is not designed to meet any type of ongoing expenses.

The scheme can help to support short-term basic living costs, including food and credit for gas/electric prepayment meters. In some circumstances, it can also help with white goods, furniture and clothing.

The Oxfordshire Residents Support Scheme website contains more information on how the scheme works, and what can be claimed.

Online benefits calculators

There are many different free and independent calculators online that guide you through what information to include and give you a list of what you could be entitled to and how to begin the process of applying. If you already get some benefits, it would be best to check the results with an advice agency before applying – this is because it could trigger a move to Universal Credit.
