Emma Hessian: Carers Adviser

Emma Hessian

Emma joined Carers Oxfordshire in 2018 as an Outreach Worker; she then moved to a Volunteer Coordinator role and is now a Carers Adviser for East Oxfordshire (Including Bicester and Kidlington).

Before joining us, she worked in health and social care for over 20 years in a variety of sectors. She has a level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care and a Certificate of Higher Education in Adult Nursing.

Emma started off working in health and social care in the community. She has worked in all the Oxfordshire hospitals and Stoke Mandeville Aylesbury.  Before joining Carers Oxfordshire Emma supported adults with learning disabilities. Throughout her career, she has worked with people of all ages and with a wide range of conditions, from accidents to long-term illnesses. “Working in many different areas of health and social care has given me a wealth of experience which I use to help support carers.”

Brought up by parents with disabilities, Emma has personal experience of caring from an early age. She supports her father and helps him around the house and with social care arrangements.

“I took this job to help people and make a difference in their lives. I speak to some really interesting people; I love hearing their stories.”

Her working hours are 9 am – 5 pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
