Are you worried about paying the heating bill this winter?

Many libraries, village halls, businesses, churches, and other places have offered to help make sure that nobody is left to suffer in the cold. Here’s a list of places across Oxfordshire that are opening free or low-cost, warm, welcoming spaces for the public over the winter:

Hanwell Fields Community Centre
Rotary Way, Banbury OX16 1ER
Mondays 6 – 8 pm
This is a book cafe, but if you are not into books and fancy just coming along for a coffee and a chat, then please feel free to do so, you can bring your knitting along if you like. Tea, coffee and cake available. Optional donation of £2.50.

Brackley Library
Brackley Library, Manor Road, Brackley, Northamptonshire, NN13 6AJ

Pop in and use the library or get comfy and warm up anytime when they are open.

Thanks to the generosity of Brackley Library Friends, Brackley Elves, Waitrose and Mercedes they are able to offer free refreshments on Mondays and Tuesdays from 12pm-2pm. Come and help yourself to a drink and some lunch.

Every Tuesday in 2023.
Warm spaces café run by Steventon Roots & Shoots community initiative. Bring your knitting, a book, computer etc and come for a cup of tea, cake, soups and bread.

Charlbury Community Centre

Open until 7 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 6pm on Tuesday and Friday, and until 4 pm on weekends.
To support the community during this cost of living crisis, Charlbury Community Centre is offering a warm and welcoming space to anyone wishing to come along. You can join in a variety of activities or make use of library services.

The Windrush club

Our Community Library and Coffee Lounge are now open to all as a warm hub, with free light refreshments and soup.

Headington Baptist Church

12 pm – 6 pm
From 1/11/22 their building is open to all for warmth a free hot drink, free wifi and people to chat with if you wish. The space is friendly and some toys and activities are available subject to volunteers. There is also an opportunity to hot desk and work with wifi and a nice cup of coffee.
