Matt Carter: Short Breaks Coordinator

Matt joined Carers Oxfordshire in June 2018. He started as a Volunteer Coordinator and later became a Short Breaks Coordinator. Matt works with unpaid carers on a daily basis organising a range of offers to give them time for themselves.

He has personal experience caring for family members “I’m always helping other people, other family members and friends.” He also grew up watching family members care for others and has been aware of unpaid caring since a young age.

Matt previously worked at Mencap helping a group of young people with learning disabilities get employment and supporting their well-being.

He has a good ‘all round’ knowledge of caring which includes looking after people with Parkinson’s, mobility issues and learning disabilities.

“I joined Carers Oxfordshire because I have seen the effect of caring on family members and I want to help others in the same situation.”

Matt works Monday to Friday 9 am – 5 pm.
