Vicky Steaman: Administrator
Vicky joined us in April 2023 to help with our administration including processing Max Card and Carer ID applications.
She brings with her over ten years of experience working in the caring sector.
She was the administrator of a residential care home. “I did the rotas, mingled with the residents, mixed in with their activities, admitted people and helped with maintenance around the home. A lot of people had dementia. It was a varied busy role, I loved it.”
Later, she worked as a receptionist at a doctor’s surgery “When the patients in the waiting room used to see a smiley face, they really appreciated it.” As part of the role, she helped with telephone and secretarial work. She has also worked for an out-of-hours service which supported A&E and took the pressure off them.
Vicky has been an unpaid carer herself and has experience in balancing work and caring. “My dad became very ill and I started to look after him while I was working”. Her dad had Parkinson’s and dementia. “I did the hospital appointments, doctors, collected his medications, made sure his clothes were clean, tidied the house. He relied on me a lot, but I was happy to do it because he was my dad. My dad gave me a lot and I wanted to give back.”
Vicky works Mondays to Thursdays from 9 am to 4.30 pm.
