Oxfordshire CAMHS NDC team have been working with colleagues in Buckinghamshire and West Berkshire as part of the local Integrated Care Board (‘BOB’ ICB) region to improve The Oxfordshire Parent Carers Form (OXPCF) autism and ADHD assessment process. Families are waiting a very long time for autism and ADHD assessments across the region and aspects of the current assessment process are complicated and repetitive. They want to improve these processes so families can access appropriate support at the right time and reduce waiting times for diagnostic assessments.

As part of this work, clinicians have developed a better ‘Request for Help’ form (for parents and professionals to ask for an autism and/or ADHD assessment). OXPCF have also developed the BOB Neurodevelopmental Questionnaire – Parent version (BOB-NDQ-P) which gathers information from parents about their child’s abilities and behaviour at different points in their development. OXPCF are also developing a similar questionnaire for schools to complete. The ‘Request for Help’ form and BOB-NDQ-P will replace other parts of the assessment process and should make the assessment simpler and quicker for parents and clinicians. This will hopefully mean that OXPCF can provide more autism and ADHD assessments.

OXPCF would like to invite parents with children who have had autism and/or ADHD assessments or are on the waiting list for a neurodevelopmental assessment in the Oxfordshire CAMHS NDC pathway to join us to review and give us feedback on the new ‘Request for Help’ form and BOB-NDQ-P. They are planning on doing this as a face-to-face focus group at Maple House (the Oxon CAMHS NDC pathway team base) on Thursday 24 th September, 10am-1pm. They will provide light refreshments.
