Oxford Brookes Poetry Workshops for Carers
April 19, 2023 @ 10:30 am – May 10, 2023 @ 10:30 am
Would you like time and space to develop your creativity, guided by a professional poet? You are warmly invited to a series of free online poetry workshops for carers inspired by the work and life of Victorian poet and carer Christina Rossetti. Organized in collaboration with Carers Oxfordshire and the Oxford Brookes University Poetry Centre, they will be led by poet Dr Sarah Hesketh and Rossetti expert Dr Dinah Roe.
These free online workshops are designed to be flexible. Attend as few or as many sessions as you can. Access is provided to all resources for the duration of the workshops. Poems will be published (with your permission) in a downloadable anthology on www.carerspoetry.org
The workshops will take place online on four Wednesdays in April and May 2023.
- Workshop 1: 19 April 2023, 10.30 am – 12 pm
- Workshop 2: 26 April 2023, 10.30 am – 12pm
- Workshop 3: 3 May 2023, 10.30 am – 12 pm

“I have loved these workshops, and appreciated the contact with other carers in this setting. I would never have thought of using poetry to help me reflect on my role in caring but it has been a wonderful way of reflecting on thoughts and feelings previously barely acknowledged.”
“It was so good to be in the company (online) of other Carers, carers like me, experiencing the same worries and responsibilities and finding comfort and inspiration in the poems were we introduced to as well as being encouraged and supported to write our own.”
