Carers course – Exploring your options: work, volunteering or further training

A short course that offers an opportunity to explore the next steps. Whether you want to retrain, go back to work or consider volunteering, there is a chance to identify what you want to do.

Course Outcomes

This short course will help you to identify your skill set, explore what you would like to do next and what you might need to do to get what you want.

There will be opportunities to consider the various options available to enable you to make the right decision for you. Whether this means you will be returning to work after a break or facing a fresh start the course will help you decide. Perhaps you are thinking of volunteering to try out new ways of working or are considering returning to education. Participating in this short course will offer you the opportunity to explore all options as you contemplate your next step.

By participating in this course participants will have the opportunity to:

• Identify your skill set and ways to be resilient
• Make plans and set goals
• Utilise the STAR method in your CV, cover letter, application form (usually in a further information section) and at interview.

This course is part of ‘A Carers Journey’ – a series of workshops and courses created for carers in partnership with Carers Oxfordshire and Abingdon & Witney College.

It is available free for carers age 19 or over, who support someone living in Oxfordshire.
